Project Highlights

  • All content easily updatable by non-technical personnel
  • Searchable index of 1,600+ publications
  • Faculty biography and information pages
  • Searchable repository of research programs
  • Imported existing content from client's old site

Client's Goals

Having created mockups and information architecture for a new site design, the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School approached Technivant to transform these designs into a content-managed Drupal website with numerous custom features and a custom theme that didn't look "Drupal".

To reduce the cost of deploying the site, the client wanted to make it easy for non-technical personnel to add and maintain all the site's content. To further reduce costs, content from the old site would be harvested by Drupal and imported into its database.

Graphic design and information architecture were provided by Visual Communications.

Technology & Expertise Utilized

  • Drupal open source content management system (CMS)
  • Highly customized Drupal theme
  • Developed custom search modules
  • Configured Drupal to import existing content from the legacy site
  • WYSIWYG rich-text editor
  • Google Analytics integration

Bottom Line

The client was able to utilize student and non-technical labor to cost effectively create over 5,000 pages of content, populating the site with content in time for the start of the semester.
